Ecuador repeals rate customs service

Ecuador repeals customs control service fee

The National Customs Service of Ecuador (SENAE) has repealed the fee for the customs control service. The General Secretariat of the Andean Community (CAN) had described it as a tax or levy on imports and not a fee for a service provided. The rate that came into effect in November 2017 applied to all imports. The collection was scarce, much more modest than expected, but its elimination provides greater clarity and fewer costs for importation. The impact on Spanish exports to Ecuador as a whole has been limited and no case has stopped the growing flow of Spanish exports to the country.
